You can enjoy listening to cylinder music boxes satisfactorily, when you join a small group tour in the special exhibition.

The History of the Music boxes

Music boxes have been developed, at first musical clocks were invented, in 1796, cylinder music boxes were made, and in 1886, disc boxes were made. You’ll find the history of the music boxes in particular. You can feel how artisans made efforts to make better music boxes’ music.

The Disc music boxes is played by your request
(Museum Course)

Please choose your favorite music disc from our request lists. And you set it up in the music box by yourself and turn it on. You put on a pair of gloves which we present. You will have rare experiences – look at, listen to, touch and play with the music boxes. If you are interested in repairs, we can take you to our museum workshop on the 3rd floor.

Many kinds of Mechanical Musical Instruments

100 years ago many kinds of mechanical musical instruments which play by themselves were made. For example harmonica, zither, organ, piano, etc. Please enjoy listening to the music boxes and other musical instruments.

*We prepare homework (free studies) kits for school children. We prepare some pages notes which have our exhibition’s guide line. You fill up the notes and stick photos which you take or we sell.

Automata – Mechanical doll

Winding up the spring device and switching it on, charming dolls come alive. This is a good opportunity to see a great number of automata which still move and work. We exhibit about 30 automata in full operation.

Exhibition of Christmas Music by music Boxes

We exhibit music boxes which play Christmas music and things connected Christmas.
[Concert Course]
You can enjoy the Charismas Carol Concert at our usual fee.

Special Christmas Concert (with tea)

Your will be surrounded by music that was played 100 years ago. The Concert with some explanation takes about 1 hour. After that you can enjoy having tea time while listening to the music. You will be satisfied emotionally and eruditely.
